Long ago, I was in the Air Force and my wife worked at NCR. She had a colleague who had just gotten his real estate license. He would constantly suggest buying a house: "You can buy a house with no money down, you have the opportunity for a VA loan there is no reason to be rent". We discussed it, and after months of persistence, we succumbed and met with him. As a result, a couple who had no intention of staying in Dayton after I got out of the service bought our first home. With no money down, we sold that home, made some money and moved on with our lives, moving to Boston, then back to Pittsburgh. Since then, we've owned 5 more homes, each fitting our lifestyle at the time: no kids; kids; parents; grandson; bad hips and good hips. I learned everything that I needed to know about real estate from our first agent.
