Creative Ways To Enjoy Your Outdoor Space

Date:

This quarantine has a lot of us feeling cooped up in our homes and ready to get outside.  While most businesses are still not open, there are plenty of ways to get outside and get creative with your outdoor living spaces!

DIY Outdoor Movie Theater

The movie theaters may be off-limits for now, but that doesn’t mean you can’t re-create the experience in your own outdoor space. Though you’ve likely seen elaborate backyard movie theater setups, it doesn’t have to be complicated: All you need is a white sheet that can be tautly mounted on a flat surface, a projector and your phone to play movies, TV shows or whatever else you’re bingeing these days.  For an easy step-by-step tutorial, check out this post!

This is also a great activity to plan a whole movie night for your family! Make some homemade popcorn, buy some movie theater candy and have the kids get a sleeping bag and watch their favorite movie from the comfort of your home!

Make a Firepit

Just because many of the state parks or campsites are closed doesn’t mean you have to miss out on everyone’s favorite camping activity, the campfire. You can easily create a DIY fire pit for your backyard in a few steps which only requires a few supplies you can pick up curbside at your local home improvement store. Check out this Youtube Video for step-by-step instructions!

Don’t forget to up some graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate to have the complete campfire experience!

Move Your Dinner Outside

Dining outdoors is one of the best parts of the warm weather.  On a night when you are throwing food on the grill, setting up an outdoor dining table to enjoy the weather is the perfect change of scenery from your kitchen.  Don’t have an outdoor table? No worries you can easily have a makeshift picnic in your backyard!

Have a Reading Area

A lot of us have been flying through books during this time.  Now that the weather is getting warmer, it's only fitting to create a great outdoor reading spot! If you have a little nook on your patio or deck, get a couple of pillows and set up a comfortable spot for yourself.  You could also string up some lights and put plants around you for an enjoyable spot to read in.

Make a Barn or Shed Getaway

Needing a little space or change of scenery from your home? What about turning your barn or shed into a craft space, office, or little sanctuary for yourself? Spruce it up by painting it a bold color, attaching some shutters, adding some flower boxes, installing a stone path or even stringing up some lights to make it your new favorite hang-out spot!

This could be a great project for one of those days you are feeling creative, but want to put off those daily tasks!

There are so many creative ways to get out of the house and enjoy your outdoor living spaces.  From throwing a big bonfire to creating a reading sanctuary, you will be sure to enjoy your backyard this summer.  Be sure to share pictures of how you are using your outdoor space with us on our social media!
