Skate, Pittsburgh!

All throughout winter, the MassMutual Pittsburgh Ice Rink at PPG Place is the perfect setting for seeing the city’s scenic views while enjoying one of winter’s favorite pastimes! It is open seven days a week until the end of February. Throughout the holiday season, the MassMutual Pittsburgh Ice Rink at PPG Place is even adorned with a massive, beautifully-lit Christmas tree!

Tube, Pittsburgh!

Of course, you can enjoy snow tubing at any Pittsburgh area ski resort, but you don’t have to leave the city to experience that winter thrill! Just east of downtown Pittsburgh is Boyce Park, where Pittsburgh residents flock from mid-December through mid-March. That’s when the slick slopes come alive with snow-tubing enthusiasts of all ages!

Hike, Pittsburgh!

Looking for an alternative view of Pittsburgh this winter? Take a hike! Randomly select one of the city’s many parks or join Venture Outdoors for a weekly jaunt through the city. Either way, you’ll be getting a healthy dose of exercise and an unbeatable view of Pittsburgh in winter!

Waddle, Pittsburgh!

The Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium offer an adorable winter activity on mild winter weekends. Resident penguins parade along the pathway to greet zoo visitors. What better way to experience winter than with some of its most beautiful creatures?

When winter weather outside gets a bit too frightful, Pittsburgh has plenty to enjoy inside as well! Here are five great Pittsburgh winter activities that you can enjoy indoors:

Whether you live in the city or not, who doesn’t like to get away every once in a while? After enjoying one of Pittsburgh’s outdoor winter activities, treat yourself to a night in one of Pittsburgh’s historic inns or hotels. You’re sure to warm up to high tea or hot cocoa during your stay!
